Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that construction on the remaining two sections of the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway will begin soon after the federal government responded to the provincial government’s request to move forward with the project.
He made the remarks while speaking to media representatives after inaugurating the 205th Urs of Sufi saint Sachal Sarmast, also known as Sakhi Abdul Wahab, at the Daraza Sharif shrine near Ranipur in Khairpur district on Thursday.
Responding to questions, the chief minister said the Sindh government had repeatedly raised the issue of the incomplete motorway with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other federal authorities. He said the provincial government had pointed out that while motorways were being constructed in other parts of the country, Sindh still lacked a motorway.
Murad Ali Shah said protests had also been held at different times over the delay in completing the project. He thanked the prime minister for addressing the matter and taking steps toward advancing the work.
According to the chief minister, the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway project has been divided into five sections. Construction has already begun on three sections, while work on the remaining two sections is expected to start soon.
