The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted a mock auction session as part of preparations for Pakistan’s upcoming 5G spectrum auction scheduled for March 10, aimed at testing the bidding system and ensuring a smooth process.
The exercise was attended by qualified telecom operators Jazz, Zong, and Telenor Pakistan, whose representatives joined the session online to test the specialized auction software.
During the mock session, NERA Economic Consulting, the international consultant assisting the regulator, briefed participants on the auction procedures, bidding format, and technical aspects of the spectrum sale.
The regulator said the exercise is part of final preparations for the auction, which is expected to enable the launch of 5G services in Pakistan and support the expansion of next-generation digital connectivity across the country.
