CNG Stations Closed Across Two Provinces

Gas supply to the compressed natural gas (CNG) sector has been suspended in Sindh and Balochistan during Ramadan, leading to the closure of CNG stations across the two provinces.

According to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the decision was taken to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to domestic consumers during the holy month.

The company said gas is being provided to household and commercial consumers during Sehr and Iftar hours to facilitate people observing the fast. However, shortages continue during other parts of the day.

In Karachi, gas supply is being suspended daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. as part of load management measures. Meanwhile, the All Pakistan Petroleum and CNG Association criticised the suspension of gas supply to the CNG sector, saying the decision has added to the difficulties faced by consumers.

The association said the recent Rs. 55 increase in petrol and diesel prices has already placed additional financial pressure on the public. It added that shutting down CNG supply has also eliminated an alternative fuel option, which could increase transportation costs and further burden consumers.
