Pakistan Completes Second Round of 5G Spectrum Auction

The second round of Pakistan’s 5G spectrum auction has been completed, with additional demand recorded in the 2600 MHz spectrum band, resulting in an increase in its price.

According to the details, one operator has switched two lots in the 2600 MHz band during the bidding process.

In the 700 MHz band, bids have been received for two lots.

Meanwhile, seven additional bids have been placed for spectrum in the 2600 MHz band, indicating higher demand in this frequency range.

Due to the additional bidding activity, the spectrum auction process for the 2600 MHz band will continue in the next round.

Officials said that the extra demand in the 2600 MHz band has led to a 5 percent increase in the spectrum price.

The auction formally began earlier in the day after being inaugurated by Muhammad Aurangzeb and Shaza Fatima Khawaja along with PTA officials. The regulator has offered around 600 megahertz of spectrum for bidding, with three telecom operators taking part in the process as Pakistan prepares to launch 5G services.
