Fears of a petrol shortage in Pakistan have eased as oil tankers carrying crude and petroleum products begin arriving at the country’s ports despite tensions in the Middle East.
According to port officials, several oil tankers from Gulf countries have started reaching Port Qasim, helping stabilize fuel supplies in the country.
A tanker named MT New Atro Pass, carrying around 50,000 metric tons of crude oil from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, has already docked at the FOTCO Oil Terminal.
Officials said another tanker, MT Sypress Two, carrying about 55,000 metric tons of crude oil, is expected to arrive at the port tomorrow, while a third vessel, MT Sea Clipper, bringing around 34,000 metric tons of crude oil will arrive on March 11.
In addition, a vessel carrying gas oil, Torm Dymine, is also docked at the terminal, which is expected to further improve the supply of petroleum products in the country.
Port authorities said another tanker carrying crude oil from Oman is also on its way, and a total of three crude oil vessels are expected to arrive at Port Qasim over the next three days, which will help further stabilize the country’s fuel supply situation.
