Punjab Closes Medical Universities and Colleges

The Government of Punjab’s Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has announced the closure of medical universities, colleges, nursing colleges, and allied health schools across the province from March 10 to March 31, 2026.

According to an official notification issued on March 9, all public and private sector medical institutions working under the administrative control of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department will remain closed during this period.

The notification states that academic activities for first and second year MBBS classes will be conducted online.  However, third, fourth, and final year MBBS classes will continue as scheduled, including their clinical attachments and examinations.

These students will continue their academic and clinical training according to the existing timetable. The notification further clarifies that all examinations will be conducted according to the already announced schedule.

Meanwhile, teaching faculty as well as nursing and allied health students will continue performing their duties in attached hospitals in line with the notified schedules.

Heads of institutions have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the instructions and to make the necessary arrangements for implementing the directives. The decision has been taken with the approval of the competent authority, according to the notification issued by the department.
