Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced an increase in the annual treatment limit for kidney dialysis patients under the CM Dialysis Program, raising the amount to Rs. 1 million.
In a message issued on the occasion of World Kidney Day, the chief minister said that thousands of patients were benefiting from the Punjab government’s kidney transplant program.
Maryam Nawaz stated that free treatment facilities for kidney patients were being provided across the province. She said the transplant card had been introduced to facilitate the treatment of complex kidney diseases and ensure that patients receive proper medical care.
The chief minister also acknowledged the efforts of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff involved in treating kidney patients, appreciating their dedication and services.
She said dialysis services in government hospitals had been improved with the cooperation of the private sector, while modern machinery was being provided to strengthen treatment facilities.
Maryam Nawaz added that a free dialysis program had been launched to reduce the financial burden on kidney patients. Referring to the global situation, she noted that more than 850 million people worldwide are suffering from kidney disease, describing the figure as a matter of concern.
