PMDC Tightens Rules for Medical Colleges

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has made student registration mandatory for all medical and dental colleges and approved fee increases for 19 private institutions, according to an official notification.

Mandatory Registration for Students

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has directed all public and private medical and dental colleges to ensure the timely registration of every admitted student.

Under the new directive, strict action will be taken against institutions that fail to comply with the rules.

• Colleges that do not register students within the specified period will face a fine of Rs. 50,000 per student.
• Institutions admitting students beyond their allocated seats will have to pay 100% of the fee for each additional student.
• Full fees will also be charged for irregular or unauthorized admissions.

Additional Penalties for Violations

The council has also introduced several penalties for administrative violations:

• Rs. 75,000 per student for submitting graduation reports late
• Rs. 30,000 per student for delaying annual exam results
• Rs. 500,000 fine for late issuance of merit and admission lists
• Additional Rs. 50,000 daily fine if delays continue

Institutions violating the rules three times may be placed on the PMDC grey list, and their seat allocation for the following year could be reduced.
