The British Council has announced fully funded scholarships for women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to study in the United Kingdom for the 2026–27 academic year.
Offered for the sixth consecutive year, the Women in STEM Scholarship Program, part of the Going Global Partnerships, aims to expand opportunities for women in STEM fields, promote female leadership in science and innovation, and support a more diverse and inclusive STEM sector.
The scholarship fund offers one-year master’s degree programs at leading universities and research institutions across the United Kingdom. So far, the program has partnered with 43 UK universities and awarded around 500 scholarships worldwide.
For the 2026–27 intake, each scholarship is worth at least £40,000, covering tuition fees, living expenses, travel costs, visa fees, health coverage, and English language support.
Globally, 90 scholarships are available across 30 countries, with 25 scholarships specifically allocated to applicants from South Asia in collaboration with five UK universities.
James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council in Pakistan, said the program reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting talented Pakistani women by enabling them to access world-class education in the UK and become future leaders in STEM fields.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jen Bardsley, Global Head of Enabling Research & Science at the British Council, said the initiative helps reduce barriers to STEM careers for women and promotes greater diversity in scientific research and innovation.
