Sale of New Currency Notes Begins Ahead of Eid in Markets

As Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, the sale of new currency notes at higher-than-face-value prices has begun in several markets.

Shopkeepers have set up stalls and handcarts in different bazaars where bundles of new currency notes are being openly sold.

In the markets of Raja Bazaar, Saddar and Commercial Market, a bundle of Rs. 10 notes worth Rs. 1,000 is being sold for Rs. 1,500, with an additional Rs. 500 being charged.

Meanwhile, a bundle of old Rs. 10 notes worth Rs. 1,000 is being sold for Rs. 1,300. Similarly, a bundle of Rs. 20 notes worth Rs. 2,000 is being sold for Rs. 2,600, with an additional Rs. 600 charged.

In addition, twenty Rs. 50 notes are being sold for Rs. 1,300, while ten new Rs. 100 notes are being sold for Rs. 1,400.
