The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has uncovered alleged irregularities in recruitments carried out by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs in Balochistan between 2006 and 2021, Express Tribune reported.
According to highly placed sources, 14 to 18 individuals were appointed in violation of rules to positions ranging from grade 11 to grade 18.
A significant number of those appointed reportedly belong to the same family, including brothers, fathers-in-law, brothers-in-law, and cousins. At least two individuals are currently serving in grades 16 and 18.
Sources said no public advertisement was issued in newspapers for these positions. In addition, minutes of the selection committee meetings, considered a mandatory requirement, are reportedly missing from official records.
The then-director has also denied signing any appointment orders related to these recruitments.
The ACE issued multiple notices to the department requesting records of the appointments. However, officials allegedly failed to provide complete documentation.
When questioned about two specific individuals, the department reportedly stated that their records were not available, despite the fact that both employees continue to receive regular salaries.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment has now initiated a formal probe into the matter and is pressing the department to provide complete records. Sources say the department has avoided cooperation instead of furnishing the required documentation.
The ACE investigation into the alleged fake recruitments within the Sports Department is ongoing.
