The Punjab government has decided to upgrade hundreds of high schools across the province to higher secondary level, allowing students to complete FA and FSc at the same institutions.
Relevant authorities have requested data from schools across Punjab as part of the process to identify institutions that can be upgraded.
The decision will be made after assessing whether sufficient space is available and whether the existing school buildings are suitable for the upgrade.
School principals have been directed to submit detailed reports about their institutions. Officials said that a third-party inspection will also be conducted to examine each high school before granting it higher secondary status.
Punjab currently has around 6,000 high schools. According to officials, about 5,800 schools have already submitted their data.
Out of these, 795 schools have expressed interest in being upgraded, provided that adequate space is available at their campuses.
Authorities will review the submitted information and inspection reports before making a final decision on which schools will be granted higher secondary status.
