Tight Security Across Punjab for Chand Raat and Eid Celebrations

Authorities have placed Punjab on high security alert for Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr, with thousands of police personnel deployed across the province to ensure public safety.

According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, more than 17,000 officers and personnel, including female police officers, will perform duties at key locations on Chand Raat.

In Lahore alone, around 5,000 police officers will be deployed to maintain law and order during the festivities.

Authorities said Eid prayers will be held at more than 29,000 locations across Punjab, where over 47,000 police officers and personnel will be assigned security duties. \

On Eid day, around 10,000 police personnel will be deployed in Lahore.

Usman Anwar, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, directed the Special Branch and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to maintain strict surveillance on terrorists and other suspicious elements.

Security has also been tightened at interprovincial borders and river check posts, with officers instructed to remain on high alert.

Authorities will monitor mosques, imambargahs, markets, and other important locations through CCTV cameras. Meanwhile, units such as the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force have been directed to ensure effective patrolling.

The IG Punjab also announced a complete ban on one-wheeling, aerial firing, hooliganism, and kite flying, warning that strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Senior officers have been instructed to personally supervise security arrangements, while additional traffic police will be deployed to maintain smooth traffic flow and facilitate citizens during the Eid holidays.
