Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the Local Government Department to ensure that the Shahrah-e-Bhutto Expressway becomes fully operational by April 2026 as work on the project nears completion.
He issued the directive while chairing the 51st meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Policy Board, where officials informed him that the 39-kilometer expressway is 88.2 percent complete.
The meeting approved the installation and long-term maintenance of solar-powered streetlights along a 4.5-kilometer elevated stretch near Sammo Goth to improve safety and visibility on the route. The board also cleared the award of a contract for the feasibility study and detailed design of the Kathore interchange to ensure smooth connectivity at the end of the expressway.
In a separate decision, the chief minister approved the construction of a new bridge over the Indus River to link Sukkur and Rohri. The project aims to ease pressure on the Lansdowne Bridge and Sukkur Barrage, which currently handle the bulk of traffic between the two cities.
Officials said more than 30,000 vehicles use the existing crossing daily, while restrictions on heavy traffic and ongoing maintenance on the Sukkur Barrage have added to congestion. The proposed bridge will be a multi-lane structure designed to accommodate heavy vehicles and improve regional connectivity.

Why projects in Sindh takes longer time to complete as compared to Punjab, is it corruption or inefficiency, or both.
Why profit mentioning Sharah e Bhutto…Is it build on ZAB assets? On loan or Karachi tax payer money?
This project’s name should be Sharah-e-Karachi.
At least Sindh government started development projects. KP is still in deep slumber
