The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association, representing 15,000 fuel stations, has warned of a nationwide shutdown of fuel stations if its concerns are not addressed.
In a statement, the association said it has formally written to Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik for arranging an urgent meeting. It added that a previous letter sent on March 6 received no response.
The association highlighted that the petroleum sector is currently facing multiple challenges, including operational difficulties, financial strain, pricing concerns, and abrupt policy changes. It urged the government to involve industry stakeholders in policymaking to address these issues effectively.
Representing around 14,000 to 15,000 petrol pump owners nationwide, the association stressed that their concerns require immediate attention.
It warned that if their demands are not met, petrol pump owners will be forced to shut down operations across the country. Such a move could trigger a severe fuel shortage, with the association stating that responsibility for any resulting crisis would lie with the Petroleum Division.
