GPS Hacking Attempts Spreading Like Wildfire in Countries Surrounding Pakistan

A new form of cyber warfare has emerged in the region, with thousands of attacks targeting global positioning systems (GPS) recorded over the past 25 days.

Techniques such as jamming and spoofing are being used to disrupt navigation systems. Jamming weakens or blocks GPS signals through electromagnetic interference, while spoofing misleads systems by sending false location data, causing aircraft and ships to deviate from their intended routes.

Such activities were also observed during recent tensions between Pakistan and India, and similar patterns are now being reported around Iran and the broader Middle East.

Aviation and maritime operators have warned that dozens of flights and vessels are being affected daily. This has increased risks to safety and disrupted logistics and trade flows.

If these cyber threats are not contained, they could pose a serious challenge to global navigation systems, potentially leading to wider disruptions in international travel and commerce.
