Govt Officially Starts Live Monitoring of Petrol, Diesel Supplies Across Pakistan

Austerity measures have been implemented on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to curb fuel consumption and improve resource management. The Ministry of IT has developed a dedicated digital dashboard, while the National IT Board (NITB) has formally launched the system to monitor compliance and performance across government departments.

The dashboard enables daily monitoring of initiatives aimed at reducing petrol consumption and provides continuous oversight of petroleum product availability nationwide. It delivers real-time data on fuel reserves, allowing authorities to assess supply conditions and respond proactively to potential shortages.

Through the system, the prime minister is personally reviewing the performance of federal ministries. The dashboard tracks departmental energy-saving efforts, offering detailed insights into fuel usage within government offices. It also monitors the use of official vehicles and petrol consumption to ensure transparency and operational efficiency.

Under the austerity policy, implementation of the decision to ground 60 percent of government vehicles is being closely tracked through the platform. The system identifies institutions failing to comply with conservation directives and presents clear data on energy-saving targets along with progress toward achieving them.

Officials said the dashboard will strengthen transparency and accountability while enabling faster policy decisions through real-time analytics. The platform also supports comparative analysis of fuel demand and supply across cities and evaluates the effectiveness of measures introduced to manage the crisis.

All federal ministries have been connected to the system on the prime minister’s instructions, while provincial governments are also being integrated. Future policy decisions, including potential smart lockdowns, will rely on energy consumption data, positioning the dashboard as a central tool in the government’s crisis-management strategy.
