Lahore Qalandars Captain Fined Rs. 1 Million Over Security Breach

Lahore Qalandars have fined their captain Shaheen Shah Afridi Rs. 1 million following a security breach involving unauthorized access to the players’ room during the ongoing 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

In an official statement, the franchise confirmed that the matter was thoroughly investigated internally. It described the incident as a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate violation of security protocols.

According to team officials, Shaheen had escorted guests of teammate Sikandar Raza into the players’ room at the team hotel, despite security staff denying entry. The move prompted immediate concern, leading to an internal review by the franchise management.

The Qalandars said they have formally informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about the outcome of their inquiry. The franchise also pushed back against what it called exaggerated reporting of the incident, insisting that some narratives did not accurately reflect the facts.

“The action has been taken in the spirit of accountability and discipline,” the statement noted, adding that the team remains fully committed to respecting all security protocols.

On the field, Lahore Qalandars have had a mixed start to their PSL 11 campaign. The Shaheen-led side currently sits second on the points table with two points from as many matches.

They opened their campaign with a win against Hyderabad Kingsmen on March 26 but were handed a four-wicket defeat by Karachi Kings in their next outing.

The loss to Karachi was further marred by disciplinary issues, as the Qalandars were penalized five runs for altering the condition of the ball during the match.

Additionally, senior batter Fakhar Zaman has been charged with a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct. The charge relates to an alleged breach of playing condition 41.3, which strictly prohibits any attempt to change the condition of the ball.

The developments add to a growing list of off-field and on-field challenges for Lahore Qalandars as they look to stabilize their campaign in the early stages of PSL 11.
