The Punjab School Education Department has issued a notification introducing a revised school schedule across the province, under which all public and private schools will observe a four-day working week.
According to the notification dated April 1, 2026, schools will remain closed on Fridays until further orders, while Saturday and Sunday will continue as regular weekly holidays.
The revised schedule states that schools will operate from Monday to Thursday. Single-shift schools will function from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, while double-shift institutions will run morning classes from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and afternoon sessions from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
The notification directs all Chief Executive Officers (District Education Authorities) to ensure strict compliance with the new timings and weekly schedule. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has also confirmed the development in a post on X, endorsing the revised schedule for schools across the province.

The new arrangement takes immediate effect and will remain in place until further orders from the provincial authorities.
