Traffic authorities in Lahore have decided to step up action against motorists who fail to pay their e-challans, as Punjab moves toward a province-wide recovery system through the newly introduced One App.
DIG Traffic Lahore Waqar Nazir said unpaid e-challans will now be collected through the centralized app, which is being rolled out gradually in different districts. The new system is designed to tighten enforcement and make recovery more effective across Punjab.
Under the updated mechanism, a traffic violator from any city in Punjab will be required to clear outstanding e-challans wherever they are stopped for checking in the province. Previously, such recoveries were largely limited to the city where the challan had originally been issued.
Traffic officials said around 30,000 to 35,000 e-challans are being issued on average across 24 cities in Punjab. They added that recoveries have already seen a noticeable increase after the launch of the One App, and the pace of collections is expected to rise further from next week.
The move signals a tougher stance by traffic police against persistent defaulters, while also showing the government’s push to digitize enforcement and streamline fine recovery across the province.
