Maryam Nawaz Announces Electric Bikes, Interest-Free Loans for AJK

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday announced a series of welfare and development initiatives for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), including electric bikes, interest-free loans, scholarships, laptops and healthcare projects, if the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) comes to power in the region.

Addressing an election rally in Muzaffarabad, Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government’s electric bike and interest-free loan schemes would also be extended to the people of AJK.

She also pledged to introduce the Himmat Card program for persons with disabilities in AJK, similar to the initiative launched in Punjab. In addition, she announced 2,000 scholarships and 5,000 laptops for students in the region.

The Punjab chief minister said 15 Clinic on Wheels units would also be provided to improve healthcare access in AJK. She added that PML-N would ensure employment opportunities for the region’s youth if elected to power.

Highlighting Punjab’s healthcare initiatives, Maryam Nawaz said new hospitals were being built across the province, including the 1,000-bed Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital in Lahore, which she said would also benefit patients from Azad Kashmir. She further said she would request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to expand the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing scheme to AJK.
