FBR Cracks Down on Illegal Cigarette Factories

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched a major crackdown against illegal cigarette manufacturing units in an intelligence-based operation.

The operation, led by the Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Lahore, targeted multiple unlicensed factories producing cigarettes without registration or tax payments.

Authorities intercepted a significant supply intended for Lahore and other cities.

During a joint raid led by Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Mustafa, a large consignment of illicit cigarettes was seized, and illegal production machinery was confiscated to halt further operations.

Two key suspects were arrested immediately, and investigations have been expanded to uncover the full extent of the illegal network. The FBR has initiated legal proceedings under the Federal Excise Act 2005.

Officials emphasized that under a zero-tolerance policy, all available resources will be deployed to dismantle the illegal cigarette industry and curb tax evasion.
