Govt Planning to Unveil FY27 Budget Right After Eid Al Azha

The federal government is considering presenting the budget for fiscal year 2026-27 immediately after Eid al-Adha, as consultations intensify between key institutions to finalise the country’s next financial plan, sources told ProPakistani.

The new federal budget may be presented on June 1, although the final date has yet to be confirmed.

Sources said consultations are ongoing between the Ministry of Finance and the National Assembly Secretariat to determine the exact timing and parliamentary schedule for the budget announcement.

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation is also expected to visit Pakistan in the coming weeks to hold discussions on budget proposals, fiscal targets, and economic policy priorities.

During its visit, the IMF team is likely to engage with officials from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Tax Policy Office, and the Ministry of Finance to review revenue projections and expenditure plans aligned with the country’s ongoing economic reform program.

Officials said the Finance Ministry has already begun extensive preparations for the upcoming budget in coordination with various federal ministries and departments, focusing on fiscal consolidation, revenue generation, and economic stability measures.

The upcoming budget is expected to carry significant importance as the government seeks to maintain economic stability while meeting reform commitments under the IMF programme and addressing growing fiscal challenges.
