KP Opens First Shelter Home for Senior Citizens

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inaugurated its first-ever “Senior Harmony Haven and Hospice”, a four-story shelter home for senior citizens, on Wednesday.

The facility, located in Hayatabad, can accommodate up to 150 seniors with modern amenities and comprehensive care.

The project was jointly established by the Social Welfare Department and a philanthropist, who funded the construction on government land.

The Social Welfare Department will cover operational and recurring costs.

The hospice provides a multidisciplinary care team including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and trained caregivers to support seniors’ medical, emotional, and social well-being.

The inauguration was performed by PTI Senator Mashal Azam Khan, with senior officials and philanthropists in attendance.

The facility features 45 rooms across four floors, offering seniors a secure and comfortable environment.
