KP Introduces New Merit Criteria for Doctors’ Recruitment

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has introduced a revised merit criteria for the recruitment of doctors, issuing a formal notification outlining a new evaluation framework.

According to the notification, academic marks will carry a weightage of 60 percent in the overall selection process. An additional 20 percent marks have been allocated for higher qualifications, while 20 percent will be reserved for the interview, bringing the total score to 100.

To further refine the merit system, a new grading structure has been introduced, under which marks will be distributed based on first, second and third division degrees.

The notification also states that candidates will be awarded extra marks for additional qualifications, with 10 marks for one additional degree, 15 for two and 20 for three additional degrees.

The revised merit criteria for doctors’ recruitment has been enforced with immediate effect across the province.
