Mohsin Naqvi has directed authorities to prepare a feasibility study for launching a ferry service from Karachi to Iraq, aiming to facilitate pilgrims with a new travel option.
The proposed ferry service is expected to provide a more accessible and potentially affordable alternative for thousands of Pakistani pilgrims travelling to Iraq each year.
During his visit to the Pakistan Coast Guards headquarters in Karachi, the interior minister also paid tribute to martyrs by laying a wreath at the memorial.
Naqvi instructed officials to intensify operations against drug trafficking and smuggling, stressing that all available resources must be utilized to curb illegal activities.
He highlighted the role of the Pakistan Coast Guards as a unique force operating both on land and at sea, and emphasized the need to further strengthen its capabilities to protect national interests.
Officials said that if approved, the ferry service could significantly ease travel difficulties for pilgrims while improving connectivity between Pakistan and Iraq.
