Major Hospitals Get Funds to Provide Free Medicines

The Punjab Finance Department has released funds to ensure the provision of free medicines in major public hospitals, aiming to improve healthcare services for patients.

According to official details, Mayo Hospital has been allocated Rs150 million for free medicines. Meanwhile, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital received Rs14 million, and Jinnah Hospital was granted Rs54 million.

In addition, Punjab Institute of Cardiology has been allocated Rs450 million to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential medicines.

Officials said the move aims to guarantee free access to medicines for patients visiting government hospitals and to further strengthen public healthcare facilities across the province.

The initiative is expected to provide significant relief to patients, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, by reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses.
