KP Approves Rs. 300 Million for Streetlight Installation in Peshawar

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has released Rs. 300 million for the installation of streetlights in Peshawar under the Roshan Peshawar initiative.

Officials said new streetlights will be installed in major commercial centers and residential areas, with a focus on inner-city localities where lighting issues have been reported.

They said improved lighting will help increase visibility on roads, support business activity in busy markets, and improve safety for pedestrians and commuters.

Officials added that all tenders for the project will be processed through an e-bidding system in line with rules set by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (KPPRA) and the federal government.

They said the system limits manual intervention and allows only technically qualified and licensed contractors to participate, while all tender details have been made publicly available.

Authorities said complaints regarding the bidding process can be taken up with the relevant KPPRA committee, where they will be reviewed on merit. Officials said the project received approval after residents raised concerns about several areas remaining dark after sunset, creating difficulties for daily movement and raising security issues.
