Crimson Desert Maker Reportedly Rewards Employees $3400 Each After Game Crosses 5 Million Sales

Pearl Abyss has reportedly awarded bonuses to all employees after Crimson Desert surpassed 5 million copies sold.

According to a report from MTN, every Pearl Abyss employee received a bonus of 5 million won, equal to about $3,400.

Pearl Abyss reportedly has around 733 employees, which would mean the total bonus payout would have to be $2,492,200 to cover every single employee.

Sales Milestone

While the game’s physical launch sales in the US did not make a major impact on monthly charts, combined global physical and digital sales have already pushed Crimson Desert past 5 million copies.

That performance is expected to make it one of the best-selling games of the year.

Company Statement

In comments cited by the report, Pearl Abyss chief executive officer Heo Jin-young thanked staff for their work on the title.

He reportedly said he had deep respect and gratitude for employees who created a product that has been enthusiastically received worldwide, and that the celebratory bonus was being paid to workers across the company.

Jin-young also said the company’s journey does not end there and that the potential shown through the game’s success would help the business overcome future challenges.

Crimson Desert recently received Patch 1.04, which added difficulty settings along with control and visual improvements.
