Rupee Ends Week Strongly Despite Oil News and Petrol Shock

The Pakistani rupee (PKR) closed in green against the US Dollar (USD) for the 151st consecutive day on Thursday.

Meanwhile, it posted gains against most of the other major currencies during today’s session.

The PKR closed at 278.77 after gaining three paisas against the US Dollar today.

Earlier today, markets panicked after international oil prices surged near $125 per barrel. The local curency market was unfazed.

A trader said the market is ignoring the petrol shock reports and continues betting big on the PKR rising against the top currencies. If trends persist, nothing will stop the PKR extending its recovery to 200 consecutive days, he said in a text to ProPakistani.

Other Currencies

PKR was stable against both the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
