Pakistan Sets New Company Registration Record

Pakistan recorded its highest-ever monthly company registrations in April, with 4,082 new firms incorporated during the month, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

The latest registrations pushed the total number of registered companies in the country to 294,101, while a new single day record was also set on April 30 when 340 companies were registered.

The sharp increase marks a major jump from March 2026, when 2,993 companies were registered, reflecting growing business formalization and rising investor activity despite economic challenges and high financing costs.

According to the SECP, investors from 22 countries registered companies in Pakistan during April. Chinese investors remained particularly active, with 95 shareholders from China registering companies with a combined paid up capital of Rs. 193 million.

Punjab led the country in new company registrations with 2,093 firms incorporated during the month. Islamabad followed with 719 new companies, while Sindh registered 600 companies and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 325 new incorporations.

Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan registered 276 and 69 companies respectively. The development comes amid broader government efforts to digitize company registration and improve ease of doing business through online incorporation systems and regulatory reforms.

SECP Chairman Kabir Ahmed Sidhu said the increase in registrations represents a positive move toward a more documented economy and reflects improving confidence in the corporate sector.

In recent months, the SECP has also intensified efforts to promote startups, digital businesses, fintech companies, and women led enterprises while simplifying registration procedures for small and medium sized businesses.
