Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a waiver of transfer fees for motorcycles up to 150 cc in a move aimed at providing relief to citizens struggling with record-high fuel prices.
The announcement came through a social media post following the federal government’s recent increase in the petroleum levy on petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD).
After the latest hike, petrol prices rose to Rs414.78 per liter, while HSD reached Rs414.58 per liter, according to an official notification issued by the government.

The increase marks the fifth rise in petroleum prices since the escalation of tensions involving Iran.
Earlier this month, petrol prices were increased by Rs6.51 per liter, while diesel prices saw a sharper jump of Rs19.39 per liter, placing additional pressure on the transport and industrial sectors.
The latest fuel price adjustment reflects continued volatility in international oil markets and domestic pricing policies.
Economists have warned that sustained increases in fuel prices could further accelerate inflation, impacting transportation costs, food prices, and overall living expenses.
With petroleum prices hovering at historic highs, concerns are growing over the financial burden on the public and businesses across Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has continued diplomatic efforts to help ease tensions between Iran and the United States.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has visited Pakistan twice in recent months to discuss regional stability, while delegations from both Iran and the US have also held engagements in Islamabad.
