Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is planning to construct a new high rise aviation complex in Islamabad’s Blue Area, with the project envisioned as the tallest building in the capital.
According to project details shared in a Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) document, the authority plans to develop the complex on a 9,000 square yard plot owned by PAA in Blue Area.
The proposed multi storey complex will include PAA offices, airline headquarters, business and conference facilities, banks, recreational and fitness amenities, food courts, hotel accommodations, a daycare center, an aviation museum, and an art gallery.
Pak-EPA has also issued a public notice inviting comments and feedback from the public and other stakeholders regarding the proposed project. According to the notice, a public hearing related to the development will be held on May 18 at Crown Hotel Islamabad.
Officials said the building plan for the proposed complex has already been approved by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), allowing PAA to move toward the construction stage.
A CDA official confirmed that approval for the building plan had been granted, but said it could not yet be officially confirmed whether the structure would eventually become Islamabad’s tallest building.
Islamabad currently has several high rise developments, including the under construction Garden Residential Apartment Project in F-10 Markaz, while The Centaurus remains among the capital’s tallest completed buildings.
