New Federal Budget Will Likely Be Unveiled On This Date

The federal government will likely present the 2026-27 federal budget on 5th June 2026, as consultations intensify between key institutions to finalise the country’s next financial plan, sources told ProPakistani.

This comes after consultations between the Ministry of Finance and the National Assembly Secretariat to determine the exact timing and parliamentary schedule for the budget announcement.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the International Monetary Fund arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday to meet Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and the economic team at the Finance Division to commence key proposals of the new budget.

The next federal budget will be prepared in close consultation with the IMF. In the first phase of discussions, the IMF staff mission will visit the Ministry of Finance and hold meetings with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and State Bank Governor Jameel Ahmad.

The tax target for the next fiscal year is expected to exceed the current year’s revenue collection by Rs. 2 trillion. The government is considering setting a tax revenue target of more than Rs. 15.3 trillion in the upcoming budget.
