Cambridge to Take Final Decision Over Leaked Exam Paper

Cambridge has said it will announce its final decision by May 22 on the next course of action after AS Level Mathematics Paper 52 was leaked ahead of the exam.

In its latest update, Cambridge confirmed that International AS Level Mathematics Paper 52 (9709), taken on May 12 in administrative zones 3 and 4, was shared prematurely in violation of its regulations. It said the matter is being investigated to determine the scale of the breach and decide what steps should follow.

According to Cambridge, the decision will be made by senior officials based on the evidence collected so far. It said the response will focus on two priorities: protecting the reliability of grades and reducing the distress caused to students by the theft of the paper.

Cambridge described the scale of paper theft in the current exam series as unprecedented and said those behind it were trying to undermine examinations and damage students’ futures. It added that legal action is being pursued against those responsible.

The exam body also asked students to continue preparing for their upcoming papers, saying it is taking all possible measures to protect the integrity of the examination process.

It further clarified that the AS and A Level results date of August 11 will remain unchanged despite the latest controversy.

The update also reaffirmed that AS Level Mathematics Paper 12, which had already been compromised earlier, remains cancelled and will be replaced with a fresh paper on June 9.
