Foreign Nationals Steal Millions From Pakistanis With Fake Gold App

A major online investment fraud case linked to the “Gold Box” and “GLBX” applications has surfaced in Islamabad, where authorities have determined that millions of rupees were allegedly collected from citizens through the fraudulent network.

The case was heard at the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad, where the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) produced three foreign nationals and a female suspect before the court.

The hearing was conducted in the court of Duty Judge Naeema Iffat, where the NCCIA sought a 30-day physical remand of the accused for further investigation.

The investigating officer informed the court that the matter involved a large-scale financial scam and that significant recoveries, including cash and digital devices, were yet to be obtained from the suspects.

After hearing arguments, the court granted the NCCIA a three-day physical remand of the accused. The judge directed investigators to produce the suspects again before the court upon completion of the remand period for further proceedings.

According to investigators, a case has been registered involving more than Rs. 134 million allegedly collected from 270 victims through the online investment scheme. Officials stated that complainant Muhammad Ayaz Khan alone was allegedly defrauded of more than Rs. 54.1 million through the scheme.

Investigators further claimed that the alleged fraud network was being operated from Islamabad’s Blue Area. The case has been registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), along with various cheating and fraud provisions.

Authorities are continuing efforts to trace financial transactions and identify additional individuals linked to the network.
