The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Sunday confirmed that Eid ul Azha will be observed in Pakistan on Wednesday, May 27, with Monday, May 18, marking the first day of Zil Hajj 1447 Hijri.
Following the confirmation of the Eid date, the public holiday schedule notified earlier by the Cabinet Division will now apply nationwide.
According to the official holidays notification issued in January 2026, Eid ul Azha holidays will be observed from Wednesday, May 27, to Friday, May 29.
As the three public holidays will be followed by Saturday and Sunday, many people are expected to get an extended five-day break from May 27 to May 31.
The Cabinet Division notification had listed May 27, 28, and 29 as official Eid ul Azha holidays for 2026, subject to moon sighting. The final announcement regarding the beginning of Zil Hajj was made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after reviewing moon sighting reports from across the country.
