Pakistan Railways is considering operating three special trains for Eid ul Azha to facilitate passengers travelling during the holiday rush.
According to reports, railway authorities are weighing a plan to run all three Eid special trains in economy class only.
If approved, the first special train is expected to operate between Quetta and Karachi on May 23. The second is being considered from Karachi to Rawalpindi on May 24, while the third may run between Karachi and Lahore on May 25.
Sources said the proposed service remains under consideration at Railway Headquarters, with the final decision yet to be formally announced.
The reported plan suggests Pakistan Railways is looking to manage Eid travel demand with a limited special operation this year.
All three proposed trains would cater to economy-class passengers, indicating a focus on handling larger volumes of regular travelers during the festive period.
Sources added that the number of special trains has been kept limited due to the unavailability of a power plant, which has created an operational constraint for the department.
A formal announcement is expected once the plan receives final approval.
