KP Excise Department Issues Important Update on Petrol Subsidy Payments

The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a fresh update for vehicle owners, including motorcyclists, who have not yet received payments under the fuel subsidy scheme.

In a statement shared on social media, the department said petrol subsidy payments are being disbursed through the State Bank of Pakistan for several categories of vehicles, including trailers, buses, delivery vans, loaders, trucks, and minibuses.

The department also clarified the main conditions for receiving the subsidy. It said the vehicle must be registered in the owner’s name and linked to their CNIC, a valid route permit must also be issued in the same name, and the owner must have a bank account under that same name and CNIC.

According to the department, several cases were returned by the central bank even though the vehicle registration and route permit requirements had been met. Officials said payments could not be processed in those cases because the owners did not have bank accounts in their own names.

The Director General of the Excise Department has now advised eligible vehicle owners who have not yet opened bank accounts to do so immediately so their subsidy payments can be released without further delay.

The latest clarification is significant for transporters and other vehicle owners waiting for relief under the scheme, as it highlights that missing banking details remain a key reason behind delayed payments.

The update comes as provincial governments continue to push fuel relief measures for different categories of commuters and vehicle owners. In a separate development, Sindh recently approved an extension of its petrol relief program for motorcyclists.
