Another Punjab District to Get Electric Buses After Eid

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has said the provincial government is continuing efforts to improve public transport facilities across the province by introducing modern, safe and affordable travel services.

During his visit to Attock, the minister reviewed arrangements at the General Bus Stand and Electric Vehicle Stand and appreciated the performance of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Attock.

Talking to the media, Bilal Akbar Khan said preparations for launching the Green Electric Bus Service in Attock had entered the final stage under the vision of Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz.

He said the electric buses are expected to begin operations within eight to nine days after Eid.

According to the minister, the environmentally friendly buses will operate with a fare of Rs. 20 and will include facilities such as mobile charging ports, a cashless card system, security cameras, panic buttons and a separate compartment for women.

Bilal Akbar Khan said the buses would also be smoke-free and noise-free, aimed at providing better travel facilities to commuters. The minister further said the Punjab government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy against overcharging, overloading, rooftop travelling and illegal fare collection during the Eid holidays.
