Electric bus operations on several routes in Karachi have been partially affected after a technical fault disrupted power supply at a charging station used by the fleet.
According to the administration of the Peoples Bus Service, electricity has remained unavailable at the Mehran Depot for the past three days due to a technical issue. As a temporary arrangement, hybrid buses have been deployed on routes normally served by electric vehicles.
The affected routes include EV-1, which operates between Malir Cantt and Sea View, EV-3 connecting Malir Cantt with Numaish, and the R-1 Pink Bus service running from Khokhrapar to Dockyard.
Officials said all three routes are operated from the Mehran Depot and rely on charging facilities at the site.
The administration warned that if power supply is not restored soon, it may be forced to suspend services on the affected routes.
