UHS to Launch Five New PhD Programs

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has announced plans to launch new PhD programs in Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) and Oral Biology.

The announcement was made by UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ahsan Waheed Rathore during the 226th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB).

According to the vice chancellor, the university awarded 45 PhD and 346 MPhil degrees over the past four years. Members of the board noted that this was the highest number of PhD graduates produced during the tenure of any vice chancellor in the university’s history.

During the meeting, the ASRB approved PhD degrees in Forensic Sciences for Dr Zulfiqar Ali and Dr Nasreen Ishaque following the successful completion and evaluation of their research projects related to determining time since death through analysis of vitreous humor.

Prof Rathore also informed the board that UHS had revised all academic curricula in line with modern educational requirements and international standards to improve teaching, training and assessment.

The board further reviewed and approved various matters related to thesis evaluations, appointment of examiners and research synopses for MD, MS, MDS, MPhil and PhD programs.
