The federal government is considering reducing import duties on a range of products used by beauty parlors, skincare clinics, and health clubs as part of the upcoming budget, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
Sources told ProPakistani that authorities are reviewing Customs Notifications 1151 and 1152, under which duties on several imported products and equipment could be reduced by an additional 2 percent to 5 percent. The proposed measures are aimed at lowering costs for businesses operating in the beauty, wellness, and fitness sectors.
According to sources, the duty on imported makeup raw materials used by beauty parlors may be reduced from 44 percent to 40 percent. Similar relief is also under consideration for other imported beauty parlor inputs, including sunscreen and sunblock products, as well as raw materials used in hair care treatments.
Sources further said that duties on shaving creams, aftershave lotions, and related grooming products used by men’s salons could be reduced from 40 percent to 35 percent. Import duties on face washes, soaps, and other salon-related materials are also likely to be lowered from 40 percent to 35 percent.
The proposed changes may also benefit skincare clinics. According to sources, duties on creams and lotions used for skin treatment and facial polishing procedures could be reduced from 40 percent to 35 percent under the new tariff structure.
Meanwhile, health clubs, gyms, and slimming centers could receive similar relief. Sources said the government is considering lowering import duties on machinery, equipment, and spare parts used by fitness facilities from 40 percent to 35 percent. While the proposals are still under review, sources said the measures are being considered as part of broader efforts to support service sector businesses and reduce the cost of imported products and equipment used across the beauty and fitness industries.
