Pop Star Hasan Raheem Allegedly Involved in Political Campaigning of Maternal Uncle Accused of Kidnapping, Torture and Extortion

Pop singer Hasan Raheem is facing criticism after publicly campaigning for his maternal uncle, Jibran Rasheed Khan, during the recent Gilgit-Baltistan elections.

Jibran Rasheed Khan is allegedly involved in despite longstanding allegations linking Khan to a disturbing kidnapping and extortion case.

Videos and social media posts showed Hasan Raheem urging supporters to vote for Jibran Rasheed and appearing at campaign activities on his behalf. But the singer’s endorsement has drawn renewed attention to serious accusations made by the family of Amin Sher Khan, a respected elder from Gilgit who, according to his son, was allegedly abducted and tortured in connection with a financial dispute involving Jibran Rasheed Khan.

According to the victim’s son, the incident was a result of a dispute between Jibran Rasheed Khan and Ameer Shah, a property dealer from Gilgit, over money allegedly owed. The son says Jibran Rasheed had followed Ameer Shah and his family to Islamabad and arrived at their residence late at night, prompting the family to call Amin Sher Khan to mediate the matter.

Amin Sher Khan, described by his son as a respected figure involved in local jirgas, allegedly convinced Jibran Rasheed Khan to give Ameer Shah more time, around 10 to 15 days, to settle the matter. But when Ameer Shah reportedly disappeared before that deadline, the son alleges Jibran Rasheed turned his attention toward Amin Sher Khan.

According to the family’s account, Jibran Rasheed later contacted Amin Sher Khan and invited him to inspect a property in Bani Gala. Amin Sher Khan agreed to meet him at Committee Chowk, Rawalpindi, late at night. The son alleges Jibran Rasheed arrived with his cousin, Masood Alam, and persuaded Amin Sher Khan to leave behind the friend who had accompanied him.

From there, the son claims, Amin Sher Khan was reportedly taken to Lifeline Rehab Center in Bani Gala, where he was allegedly bound to a chair, blindfolded, assaulted, and forcibly kept awake through drugs while being pressured for information about Ameer Shah.

The accompanying friend reportedly grew suspicious after Amin Sher Khan failed to return and a message was sent from his phone claiming he had gone to Gilgit. According to the son, an initial attempt to register a kidnapping complaint ran into procedural hurdles, after which the family formally filed a police report and launched a search with Punjab Police.

Before authorities could raid the rehab center, the family says they received information that Amin Sher Khan had surfaced in Peshawar, allegedly in police custody. According to the son, KP police initially claimed the victim had been detained on drug-related grounds, a version of events the family strongly disputes.

The son alleges that pressure from Punjab Police helped secure his father’s release after the family argued he had been kidnapped, not lawfully arrested. He further alleges that Jibran Rasheed and his associates had influence over how the matter was handled, though these claims have not been independently verified.

A case was subsequently filed against Jibran Rasheed Khan, according to the family. But the victim’s son says the proceedings stalled repeatedly due to delays, adjournments and non-appearances, allowing Jibran Rasheed to secure bail and avoid meaningful prosecution.

Jibran Rasheed Khan recently contested the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, though he was unsuccessful. His candidacy, and Hasan Raheem’s visible support for it, has now reignited public questions over whether celebrities should campaign for relatives facing such grave allegations.

As of publication, no court conviction has been presented establishing Jibran Rasheed’s guilt, and the allegations remain disputed. Hasan Raheem has not publicly addressed the accusations against his uncle, nor explained whether he was aware of the case when he joined the campaign.
