The Punjab government has approved an increase in Sports Endowment Fund scholarships from July and will award scholarships to 243 new athletes to support talented players across the province.
Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports, Punjab, Fazlur Rehman, announced the decision while chairing a meeting at Punjab Stadium.
DG Sports Punjab Tariq Qureshi, Director Admin Abid Shaukat, Director Sports Chand Perveen, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad, Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, and senior officials from the Sports, Finance, and Pension Fund departments attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary Sports Punjab Fazlur Rehman said that 313 athletes are currently receiving Sports Endowment Fund scholarships.
Under the revised structure, athletes in the Platinum category will receive Rs. 100,000 per month, while those in the Gold category will be awarded Rs. 75,000 per month.
Athletes in the Silver category will receive Rs. 50,000 per month, and those in the Emerging category will get Rs. 30,000 per month.
Fazlur Rehman also said scholarship recipient athletes will be issued special bank cards so they can receive their scholarships conveniently.
