Weather conditions across Pakistan remained mixed on Thursday, with rain and gusty winds bringing relief to Punjab while Karachi continued to experience intense heat and humidity.
In Lahore and the surrounding areas, rain accompanied by strong winds improved weather conditions significantly. The showers helped reduce temperatures and transformed the previously hot and uncomfortable atmosphere into a cooler and more pleasant environment.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that similar conditions may persist, with more rain and gusty winds expected in Lahore and other parts of Punjab. Authorities said the rainfall is likely to further ease temperatures across the province.
In contrast, Karachi remains under severe hot and humid conditions. The PMD reported that daytime temperatures may reach around 38°C, while humidity levels have climbed to approximately 75 percent, making the heat feel even more intense.
Residents across the city continue to struggle with prolonged heat exposure amid uncomfortable weather conditions.
Along with extreme weather, many areas of Karachi are also facing extended electricity load shedding. Residents in Central, West, South, Malir, and Korangi districts reported power outages lasting more than 12 hours, worsening daily life during the heatwave.
Citizens have expressed concern over the combined impact of high temperatures and prolonged electricity shortages, which are affecting cooling needs and basic household activities.
While residents report extended outages, the power utility maintains that no area is experiencing load shedding beyond 10 hours and says electricity distribution is being managed according to operational requirements.
Meteorological experts say the contrasting conditions highlight Pakistan’s diverse weather patterns—where northern and central regions may receive rain and relief, while southern areas like Karachi continue to face persistent heat and humidity.
