A weak weather system bringing dust-laden winds and rain remains active across Punjab, with fresh showers expected in Lahore and several other districts today.
The recent rainfall has already helped reduce the intensity of heat in the province, particularly in Lahore, where the weather has turned relatively pleasant compared to previous days.
According to the Met Office, Lahore recorded a minimum temperature of 26°C on Friday, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 34°C. Dust storms and rain are likely in the city again today.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has also issued an alert for strong winds, rain, and possible hailstorms across Punjab. It said rain is expected in most districts of the province through today.
Areas likely to receive rainfall include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Faisalabad, Jhang, Okara, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad.
The authority has also forecast rain in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Kot Addu, and Mandi Bahauddin. Rain is also expected in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, and nearby areas.
Officials said commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province have been placed on alert in line with directions issued by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. In Lahore, WASA has instructed its operational staff to remain in the field in view of possible rainfall.
The PDMA has advised citizens to stay in safe places during lightning and avoid open areas during thunderstorms. It also urged people to remain cautious during dust storms and strong winds. Farmers have been asked to take precautionary measures in light of the changing weather, while tourists traveling to northern areas have been told to exercise extra care.
