Two Pilots Martyred in PAF Trainer Aircraft Crash

Two pilots were martyred after a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) trainer aircraft crashed near Mardan during a routine training mission on Monday, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing identified the deceased as Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Qasim Abdullah of the PAF and Lieutenant Taha Abbasi of the Pakistan Navy.

ISPR said Air Headquarters has constituted a board of inquiry to determine the cause of the crash. Field Marshal Asim Munir along with the services chiefs and personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces, expressed grief over the loss of the two officers and extended condolences to their families.

The incident comes days after another military aviation accident. On June 10, a Pakistan Army Aviation Mi-17 helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad after developing a technical fault during take-off, according to ISPR.

All personnel on board the helicopter were martyred and no survivors were reported. A separate board of inquiry was ordered to investigate the cause of that crash.
