The Punjab government is expected to announce a 7% increase in salaries and pensions for government employees and retirees in its upcoming fiscal year 2026–27 budget, according to official sources.
Sources said the proposed increase aligns with the salary and pension adjustments recently approved by the federal government. The announcement is likely to be made during the presentation of the Punjab Budget 2026–27.
If approved, the revised pay and pension structure will take effect from the beginning of the new financial year, offering financial relief to millions of public sector employees and pensioners across the province.
Officials said the upcoming budget will also include detailed allocations for development projects, operational expenses, and various welfare initiatives aimed at supporting government employees.
They added that the budget will outline the province’s broader economic strategy, with a focus on infrastructure development, improved public services, and administrative reforms.
