Govt to Launch ChatGPT-Like AI to Monitor Ministries And Staff

The federal government is moving ahead with plans to digitize oversight and coordination across ministries through an artificial intelligence-powered platform designed to improve transparency, accountability, and service delivery.

Participants were briefed on a sovereign AI-based GPT-powered research tool developed by the Pakistan Digital Authority. The system is designed to support internal government research by drawing on previous directives, official orders, and policy decisions to provide quicker access to institutional knowledge and assist informed decision-making.

Officials from the Pakistan Digital Authority presented a demonstration of the system and said PMOS would enable the Prime Minister’s Office to instantly communicate directives to ministries and departments while allowing decision makers to track progress and monitor performance through a single digital dashboard.

The platform includes an automated alert mechanism that generates pop-up notifications for federal secretaries and other officials when tasks remain pending beyond their deadlines. The feature is expected to improve follow-up and ensure the timely execution of government directives.

According to officials, the GPT-based tool will function as a virtual assistant for government officers with an understanding of official procedures and workflows. It will be capable of helping officers complete assigned tasks using artificial intelligence, with the aim of improving productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.

Cheema praised the efforts of the Pakistan Digital Authority in developing PMOS and directed relevant stakeholders to further refine the platform before its broader rollout.

He said Pakistan was progressing toward an AI-based digital governance framework and noted that PMOS would support the implementation of the National Digital Masterplan by strengthening coordination among ministries and expanding digital integration.

The minister added that citizen-focused services offered through platforms such as Asan Khidmat Markaz and other digital initiatives would benefit from a connected government ecosystem. He said technology-driven solutions, including digital tax enforcement systems, would continue to expand as part of efforts to build a more responsive and accountable public sector.

Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Secretary IT Zarar Hashim Khan, Chairman Pakistan Digital Authority Sohail Munir, and senior government officials attended the meeting.
